Kawant, July 5, 2026: A dynamic and engaging leadership training programme for hostel (Boys and Girls) student representatives of Standards 6 to 10 was successfully conducted on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Don Bosco Hostel, Kawant. The session was held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., bringing together young leaders for an enriching learning experience aimed at nurturing leadership qualities and strengthening their role within the hostel community.
The training was led by Fr Dr Mayank Parmar, Rector of Don Bosco Kawant, who served as the main facilitator. A total of 30 student representatives participated in the programme, including 10 girls and 20 boys. The initiative was designed to empower these students with essential leadership skills and to enable them to contribute more effectively to the development and smooth functioning of the institution.
The primary objective of the training was to foster leadership qualities among students and encourage them to take active responsibility within the hostel environment. Through an interactive and participatory approach, the session moved beyond traditional one-way instruction and evolved into a meaningful two-way engagement between the facilitator and participants.
Fr Parmar employed a variety of methods, including case studies, real-life examples, proverbs, and reflective discussions, to stimulate critical thinking and active participation among the students. Participants were given ample opportunity to express their thoughts, share experiences, and engage in group discussions, making the training both practical and relatable.
Key themes covered during the session included self-development, the importance of contributing to the growth of others, effective hostel management, and the vital role of student representatives as a bridge between hostel authorities and fellow boarders. Emphasis was also placed on values such as empathy, problem-solving, neutrality, fairness, punctuality, and responsibility.
An important aspect of the training involved helping students understand the unique advantages of hostel life compared to day scholars. The facilitator encouraged participants to recognise and utilise these opportunities for personal growth, discipline, and leadership development.
The scale of responsibility entrusted to student representatives was highlighted by presenting the overall strength of the institution. Don Bosco Hostel Kawant currently houses 237 students, while Nikol Bhavan accommodates 104 girls. With such a large student community, the need for responsible, confident, and impartial leadership becomes even more critical. Students were urged to carry out their duties with seriousness, integrity, and self-confidence.
Additional discussions focused on practical challenges faced in hostel leadership and strategies to address them effectively. The training also clarified common misconceptions and helped students gain a clearer understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
The programme concluded on a positive and enthusiastic note, with participants expressing renewed motivation and confidence in their leadership roles. The student representatives conveyed their optimism about contributing meaningfully to the continued progress and development of Don Bosco School, Kawant.
This initiative stands as a testament to Don Bosco’s commitment to holistic education, focusing not only on academic excellence but also on character formation and leadership development among young students.
