On June 22, 2026, Don Bosco School and Junior College, Nashik, organized an Educational Field Visit for the students of Grade 12 with the objective of providing experiential learning beyond the classroom under the guidance of the Principal, Fr Rixson. The visit included three significant destinations in Nashik, Maharashtra – the Gargoti Mineral Museum, the Windmill Project, and the Sula Wine Factory. The excursion proved to be both educational and enjoyable, offering students valuable insights into science, technology, industry, and natural resources.
The first destination was the Gargoti Mineral Museum, Sinnar, one of India's most renowned museums dedicated to minerals and gemstones. Students were fascinated by the vast collection of rare minerals, crystals, rocks, and fossils displayed in the museum. The exhibits showcased the beauty and diversity of minerals found across India and around the world. The museum guide explained the formation, properties, and uses of various minerals, helping students understand important concepts related to geology and earth science. The visit sparked curiosity and appreciation for the natural treasures hidden beneath the earth's surface.
The next stop was the Windmill Project at Sinnar. Here, students learned about renewable sources of energy and the importance of sustainable development. They observed the gigantic wind turbines and gained knowledge about how wind energy is harnessed to generate electricity. Experts at the site explained the functioning of windmills, their environmental benefits, and their contribution to reducing dependence on conventional energy sources. The visit encouraged students to think about eco-friendly alternatives and the need to protect the environment for future generations.
The final destination was the Sula Wine Factory. Students were introduced to the process of grape cultivation and the various stages involved in wine production. They observed modern machinery and learned about the quality control, packaging, storage, and marketing practices followed by the industry. The guided tour provided an understanding of industrial operations and agricultural entrepreneurship. Students also gained insights into the role of technology in the food processing and manufacturing industries.
The educational field visit was a memorable and enriching experience for all participants. It successfully combined learning with exploration and helped students connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The visit broadened the students’ horizons and inspired them to learn through observation and experience.
