Don Bosco Boarding, Kawant, joyfully celebrated Dominic Savio Week from June 30 to July 6, 2026, centred on the theme “Joy in Little Things.” The week-long programme was marked by a series of meaningful and engaging activities aimed at nurturing the holistic development of students. The celebration concluded with a solemn and prayerful oath-taking ceremony, highlighting leadership, responsibility, and commitment among the students.
The week commenced with an inauguration ceremony held near the chapel, which included the lighting of the lamp, an introduction to the life of St Dominic Savio, and the formal declaration of the opening of Savio Week by the Vice Rector Fr Ajay Shelke sdb. Throughout the week, students actively participated in various events such as a Drawing Competition, Talent Show, Essay Writing Competition, Night Games, Savio Nite, and Timili. These activities provided a platform for students to express their creativity, talents, and team spirit.
The concluding day was marked by a dignified oath-taking ceremony for the newly appointed leaders of the boarding houses and teams. The ceremony brought together students from both Nikol Bhavan Girls Boarding and Don Bosco Boys Boarding. The selected leaders solemnly pledged to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, dedication, and integrity.
Fr Agnel Dias, the Prefect of Studies, accepted the oath papers from the boys’ leaders, while Sr Tejal Parmar, the Boarding In-charge, accepted the oath papers from the girls’ leaders. Their acceptance symbolised trust and confidence in the capabilities of the student leaders.
The ceremonial distribution of badges and sashes was a significant highlight of the event. Fr Mayank Parmar, the Rector, along with Sr Mina Chauhan, the Coordinator, conferred badges and sashes upon the Boarding Captains and Vice Captains. The Team Captains and Vice Captains were honoured by Fr Ajay Shelke, Br Melvyn Carvalho, Sr Nirmala Chauhan, and Sr Enone Pinto. The presentation of these symbols of leadership instilled a sense of pride and accountability among the students.
The entire ceremony was conducted in a deeply devotional atmosphere. Students offered prayers, seeking God’s guidance and blessings for their journey as leaders. The spirit of unity, discipline, and service was evident throughout the programme, reflecting the values of St Dominic Savio.
The successful organisation of Savio Week and its concluding ceremony stands as a testimony to the collaborative efforts of the staff and students of Don Bosco, Kawant. It not only celebrated the life and virtues of St Dominic Savio but also inspired young minds to embrace leadership with humility and joy in everyday responsibilities.
The event concluded on a hopeful note, with the newly appointed leaders ready to guide their peers and contribute positively to the boarding community in the academic year ahead.
