 Divyadaan: Salesian Institute of Philosophy staged its annual play on August 20, 22, and 23, 2026 for School Children, Religious of Nashik, and For the Parishioners respectively. This year, the brothers presented a musical adaptation of the popular animated film Encanto. The production brought together music, dance, drama, colourful visuals, and a meaningful message about family, fraternity, unity, and teamwork.

Encanto tells the story of the Madrigal family, a unique family blessed with magical powers and living in a magical house known as the Casita. Each member possesses a special gift that contributes to the family. However, one member, Gabriel, does not receive a magical power and struggles to understand his place within the family. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that a person’s value does not depend on possessing a special gift.

When the magic that holds the family and the Casita together comes under threat, it is Gabriel who plays a crucial role in bringing the family together and helping to restore what has been lost. Through his journey, the play highlights the importance of acceptance, family spirit, and standing together during difficult times. The production emphasised that the strength of a family or community lies not merely in individual talents, but in its ability to support one another and work together.

The first show was presented especially for school children, who enjoyed the lively music, energetic dances, colourful characters, and humorous moments. The performances on the second and the third days were attended by members of the religious community, parishioners, and other guests. The audiences responded enthusiastically and appreciated the effort and creativity of the brothers.

A special feature of this year’s production was that it was entirely handled by the brothers. The core team worked together on every aspect of the play, including direction, acting, singing, dancing, props, backdrops, and other stage requirements. The preparation involved numerous rehearsals, planning sessions, and hours of teamwork. Each brother contributed his talents and abilities, making the production a genuine community effort.

Throughout the preparation, Br Madharasan, the Brother Assistant, and Fr Jayaseelan, the Prefect of Studies, accompanied and guided the brothers. Their encouragement and support helped the brothers organise the production and overcome the challenges involved in staging the play. The annual play provided the brothers with an opportunity to showcase their talents in acting, singing, dancing, directing, and stage production. More importantly, it became an experience of fraternity and community building.

The performances were thoroughly enjoyed and well appreciated by all who attended. The Annual Play continues to remain a lively and vital tradition of the Divyadaan community, providing the brothers with an opportunity to come together, share their talents, and celebrate the values of fraternity, cooperation, and community spirit.
