Don Bosco English Medium School, Chhotaudepur, organized a two-day Teachers’ Training Program on June 5 and 6, 2026 with the aim of enhancing the professional competencies and pedagogical skills of its teaching staff. The program was conducted by Mrs Gloria Baptista, a renowned educator from Don Bosco Baroda, who served as the resource person for the training.
The program commenced with a prayer service led by Fr Selvin D’Mello, who warmly welcomed the resource person and the participating teachers. In his introductory remarks, he emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and encouraged the teachers to make the most of the learning opportunity.
During the first day of the training, Mrs Baptista introduced the participants to a variety of innovative teaching methodologies designed to make classroom learning more effective and engaging. Special emphasis was placed on English language teaching, activity-based approach, and the preparation of effective lesson plans. Through interactive sessions, discussions, and practical examples, the teachers were encouraged to adopt child-centered approaches that foster creativity, critical thinking, and active participation among students.
The second session of the day focused on demonstrations and practical implementation of the methods discussed. Teachers were given opportunities to observe, analyse, and practice different classroom strategies that could be effectively integrated into their daily teaching.
The second day was dedicated primarily to activity-based teaching and the creative use of teaching aids. Teachers actively participated in designing and presenting lessons using a variety of instructional materials. The session provided a platform for them to showcase their creativity, collaborate with colleagues, and explore innovative ways of making learning more meaningful and enjoyable for students. The practical exercises helped teachers gain confidence in applying the newly acquired techniques in real classroom situations.
The training program concluded at 12:30 p.m. with a vote of thanks proposed by Fr George Carlos, Rector and Manager of the school. He expressed his sincere appreciation to Mrs Gloria Baptista for her dedication, expertise, and willingness to share her rich experience with the teaching staff. He also thanked all the teachers for their enthusiastic participation and commitment to professional growth.
To ensure the effective implementation of the strategies learned during the program, follow-up sessions will be conducted throughout the academic year. Lunch and refreshments were provided on both days, contributing to the warm and collaborative atmosphere of the program.
