A special programme was organized on August 9, 2026, at St. Dominic Savio Parish, Satpur, Nashik, on the occasion of the Feast of St. John Marie Vianney, the patron saint of priests, to honour and appreciate the dedication, service, and spiritual guidance provided by priests to the parish community.

The programme began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in the morning at 8.30 a.m. celebrated by Fr Jacob Palaparambil along with the Parish priest Fr Wyman Gonsalves and the other community members including Fr Rixson Nigrel, Fr Pannasingh Bhuriya and Fr Leon Rodrigues. The sermon was delivered by Fr Rixson Nigrel in which he highlighted the importance of priestly life, emphasizing the dedication, faith and commitment required in serving God. Drawing from the gospel passage he emphasized the importance of stepping forward in faith, placing complete trust in God even in the face of challenges and uncertainty.

After the Holy Mass, the programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp, which symbolized Christ as the light of the world and the guidance and inspiration provided by priests in the lives of the faithful. The lighting of the lamp created a prayerful and meaningful atmosphere.

This was followed by the felicitation of the priests. The priests were honoured with gratitude and appreciation for their selfless service, commitment, and continuous efforts towards the spiritual growth and well-being of the parish community. The felicitation also served as an opportunity for the parishioners to express their respect and affection towards the priests.

Following the felicitation, a cake-cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the feast in a joyful and festive manner. The gathering shared in the happiness of the occasion and celebrated the vocation and ministry of priests.

The Parish Priest, Fr Wyman Gonsalves then delivered a speech on the occasion. In his speech, he expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone for their love, support, and efforts extended towards the celebration. He thanked the parish community for organizing the programme and for their thoughtful gestures, expressing his appreciation for their respect and affection. Special appreciation was extended to organizers and parishioners for their presence and participation. The main programme then came to an end.

Following the celebration, the sisters of FHIC community who were a part of the programme, conducted a Marian Quiz for the youth. The quiz focused on Mother Mary and provided the young participants with an opportunity to increase their knowledge about her life, virtues, and role in the Christian faith. The youth participated actively and enthusiastically, making the session both informative and enjoyable.

The entire programme concluded on a joyful and meaningful note. It brought the parish community together in an atmosphere of faith, gratitude, celebration, and fellowship. The celebration was a beautiful way of honouring priests and remembering the inspiring life and dedication of St John Marie Vianney.
