Don Bosco English Medium School, Savedi, conducted a significant outreach program on August 25, 2026, for its Class IX and X students at the Sevadham Matimand Nivasi Vidyalaya in Shirur, Pune District, managed by the Sisters of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate. The initiative aimed to instill compassion, empathy, and a spirit of service among the students.

 The group departed from the school at 9 a.m., accompanied by Principal Fr Richard Burkhao, Supervisor Ms Shaila Misal, and other faculty members. Upon their arrival at the center at 10:30 a.m., they received a warm welcome from the sisters, staff, and the intellectually disabled girls. On behalf of the school, essential grocery items were donated to support the residents of the institution. Sr Saumya, the superior of the center, officially welcomed and expressed gratitude to the group for their visit. Subsequently, a senior staff member provided an insightful overview of the center's history and current initiatives, which deeply moved the students and staff.

 Students from Classes IX and X delivered an engaging dance performance for the girls. Fr Richard Burkhao contributed by leading an action song, fostering a joyful and friendly atmosphere. Various games and activities, organized by Fr Burkhao and the teachers, offered the girls opportunities to participate, interact, and enjoy the day. Following these activities, a brief guided tour of the facility was conducted. In a heartfelt gesture, the Don Bosco students served meals to the specially-abled girls with love and respect, creating a memorable experience for all involved.

 The Sisters and staff of the institute warmly welcomed the students and teachers, arranging a lunch for the visiting group. The visit offered an emotional and enlightening experience for the students, as they gained insight into the challenges faced by the girls. Many students were profoundly moved, recognizing the importance of treating every individual with love, dignity, acceptance, and respect.

 The outreach program transcended a mere visit, serving as a valuable lesson in humanity. It taught the students that education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms, encompassing the service of others, sharing resources, and bringing joy to the lives of others.
