The Feast of St Dominic Savio was celebrated with great joy on July 3rd,2026 in the school hall of Savio Kindergarten, Yerwada at 9.30 a.m. The celebration, beautifully hosted by the students reflected the values of faith, leadership and service that St Dominic Savio embodied throughout his life.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and the introduction of the chief guest. This was followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Management Fathers, symbolising the light of knowledge and wisdom. Fr Crispino D'Souza, the Rector then garlanded the statue of St Dominic Savio, paying tribute to the young saint whose life continues to inspire children across the world. To help the students understand his remarkable journey, a short and inspiring video depicting the life and virtues of St Dominic Savio was screened.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Crispino D'Souza reflected on the exemplary life of St Dominic Savio as a devoted student, a responsible leader and a holy child. He highlighted that Dominic Savio was not only brilliant in his studies but also compassionate towards others. He encouraged his fellow students to choose goodness, avoid wrongdoing and become instruments of peace and kindness. His inspiring message motivated the students to follow the footsteps of St Dominic Savio by living lives rooted in faith, discipline and service.
Adding colour and joy to the celebration, the kindergarten students presented a delightful dance performance, which was appreciated with enthusiastic applause. The programme continued with the singing the Dominic Savio Anthem, filling the hall with a spirit of unity and pride.
The celebration was followed by the Investiture Ceremony of the Don Bosco Primary School, Yerwada. The newly elected School Captain, School Vice-Captain, Sports Secretary, Health and Hygiene Captains, and Green Alliance Captains solemnly took their oath of office, administered by the Rector, Fr Crispino D'Souza. The House Vice-Captains were then administered the oath by the Principal, Fr Glen Fernandes, while the class monitors of the respective classes took their oath under the guidance of Mrs Varsha.
In his address, Fr Glen Fernandes congratulated the newly elected student leaders and reminded them that leadership is not about authority but about responsibility, commitment, and selfless service. He encouraged them to lead by example, uphold the values of the institution, and inspire their fellow students through their actions.
The programme concluded with the singing of the School Anthem. The celebration served as a meaningful reminder that every student is called to live with faith, integrity, and a spirit of service, just as St Dominic Savio did, making the day both memorable and inspiring for everyone present.
The newly elected members expressed the joy and gratitude on receiving the responsibility. They pledged to lead by example to carry on the duty with responsibility and commitment.
