VADODARA, AUGUST 16, 2026: Don Bosco High School, Makarpura, came alive with youthful energy, prayer and fellowship as young people from across the region gathered for “Sundays at Valdocco,” a day dedicated to deepening faith, strengthening commitment and celebrating the Salesian spirit.
Youth from Makarpura, Snehalaya, Dakor, Chhota Udepur, Alirajpur, Gorwa, Navayard, Sama, Kapadvanj and Narukot participated in the gathering, accompanied by Salesian priests and delegates from the respective Parishes.
The programme began on a prayerful note with Eucharistic Adoration, inviting the young participants to place themselves in the presence of Jesus. The opening ceremony that followed featured a lively Gospel Action Song and a Prayer Service led by the Makarpura youth.
The Confirmation youth of Makarpura presented a thought-provoking skit on commitment, while the youth from Snehalaya brought the stage alive with a Don Bosco dance. Fr Shaun and Fr Brian further animated the gathering through a song centered on love and an engaging interaction with the young participants.
The gathering then moved to the AV Hall, where Fr Leon Cruz, Youth Delegate of the Western Region, introduced the participants to the history and significance of Valdocco. He explained how Valdocco became the heart of Don Bosco’s mission and the birthplace of his first Oratory, where young people found a home, a school, a playground and a place to encounter God.
One of the significant moments of the day was a series of personal testimonies on the theme, “Encountering Jesus Personally.” Fr Shaun, Sr Quincyann, Melita and Cyrus shared experiences from their own faith journeys, encouraging the youth to recognise the presence of Jesus in their lives and develop a personal relationship with Him.
Fr Daresh subsequently led a session on commitment, challenging the participants to translate their faith into concrete choices and remain faithful to their responsibilities and Christian calling.
The spiritual journey of the day culminated in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, bringing the participants together around the altar as one Salesian family. Following the Mass, Fr Leon expressed his appreciation for the young people who had remained actively involved in various youth initiatives throughout the year and thanked them for their commitment.
The latter part of the programme shifted to recreation and celebration, reflecting Don Bosco’s belief that joy is an essential part of Salesian spirituality. Games and an energetic Zumba session led by the Makarpura youth created an atmosphere of friendship and enthusiasm.
The day concluded on a vibrant note with a Gospel Band session led by Fr Shaun, bringing together music, faith and youthful celebration. Fr Shaun delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all the priests, religious, animators, youth leaders, volunteers and participants who contributed to the success of the programme.
“Sundays at Valdocco” became more than a youth gathering; it was an experience of faith, friendship, commitment and Salesian joy, inspiring the young participants to carry forward Don Bosco’s mission by becoming signs and bearers of God’s love to other young people.
