NERUL, JULY 2026: Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul, celebrated its annual Investiture Ceremony over two days, marking the official induction of the new Student Council. The ceremony was held on July 2 for the Preparatory and Secondary Stages and on July 3 for the Middle School in the 4th Floor Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH). Adding greater significance to the occasion, the event coincided with the Feast of St. Dominic Savio, the Salesian patron saint of youth, known for his faith, cheerful service, and exemplary leadership.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome, the traditional lighting of the lamp, and a prayer service, setting a solemn and inspiring tone. The newly elected student leaders, including the Assistant Head Boy, Assistant Head Girl, House Captains, and Deputy House Captains, proudly assembled to accept their responsibilities. In a touching Salesian tradition, parents were invited on stage to pin badges and adjust the sashes of their children, making the occasion deeply meaningful. The school management then presented letters of appointment and house flags before administering the Oath of Office, through which the council pledged to lead with commitment, humility, and integrity.
The ceremony was honoured by the presence of two distinguished Chief Guests: Ms Aanjanii Saraf, Founder of the Manikesha Educational Foundation, and Mrs Anjna Sahi, Principal of Podar International School (Cambridge). Their inspiring presence added prestige to the event as they encouraged the newly appointed leaders to embrace responsibility with confidence and compassion.
The management also addressed the gathering with motivational messages. Rector Fr Dr Barnabe Dsouza shared an inspiring story highlighting how life's challenges build resilience and determination. Administrator Fr Allwyn Misquitta encouraged students through uplifting affirmations that emphasized optimism and perseverance. Principal Mrs Kalyani Chaudhuri spoke about the essence of Salesian leadership, urging students to lead with empathy, courage, and a spirit of selfless service.
The ceremony filled the Don Bosco community with pride and joy as teachers witnessed their students stepping into leadership roles with confidence. Parents expressed heartfelt appreciation, with one remarking, “This role has truly transformed our child, instilling confidence, purpose, and responsibility.”
The success of the event reflected the dedicated teamwork of the Scouts, Art Team, Media Team, and the Investiture Committee. The entire process, beginning with democratic student elections and culminating in the investiture, was efficiently coordinated by Teacher-in-Charge Tr Neeru Nigam, with the valuable support of Tr Vinaya Valsan (Preparatory), Tr Kanchan Kakade (Middle), and Tr Neha Upadhayay (Secondary). The ceremony marked the beginning of an inspiring journey of responsible leadership for the students of Don Bosco Nerul.
