Kawant, July 3, 2026: With the aim of developing leadership qualities in students from an early age, Don Bosco, Kawant organised a School Leadership Training Programme on July 3, 2026. More than 40 student representatives from Standards 6 to 10 of both the Gujarati and English medium schools, who had been elected as class monitors, captains, vice-captains, ministers and deputy ministers, took part in the programme.
The training focused on helping students understand the true meaning of leadership and the responsibilities that come with it. Sessions covered topics such as the role of a monitor and captain, acting as a bridge between teachers and students, developing a sense of responsibility, self-confidence, motivation, empathy and humility, classroom management, communication skills, time management and ways of dealing with difficult situations.
To make the programme practical and engaging, students worked on a number of case studies and discussed possible solutions in groups. This activity helped them improve their decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork and leadership skills. The sessions were supported with PowerPoint presentations and interactive learning activities.
The training was conducted by Mr Hasmukh Christian and Fr Dr Mayank Parmar. They encouraged the participants to see leadership not as a position of authority but as an opportunity to serve others with responsibility, honesty and dedication.
At the end of the programme, the student leaders prepared an action plan for the coming academic year, suggesting activities that would contribute to the growth of both the school and their fellow students. This exercise encouraged them to think creatively, plan ahead and take ownership of their responsibilities.
The programme received valuable support from Fr Ajay, Principal of Don Bosco High School (Gujarati Medium), and Fr Agnel, Principal of Don Bosco High School (English Medium), whose guidance contributed to the success of the event.
The School Leadership Training Programme proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring the newly elected student leaders to become responsible, caring and service-minded individuals who can make a positive difference in their school community.
