Vadodara: A vibrant atmosphere of enthusiasm and hope filled the campus of Don Bosco High School, Makarpura, as the school celebrated its grand Praveshotsav 2026-27. The mega event marked a pivotal milestone, warmly welcoming students entering Class 9 (secondary section) and Class 11 (Science Stream of the higher secondary section).

The celebration commenced with a grand arrival of dignitaries, followed by the traditional Deep Prajwalan (lighting of the lamp) to invoke divine blessings and symbolize the pursuit of knowledge over ignorance. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Hemang Joshi - the young and dynamic Hon. Member of Parliament from the Vadodara Lok Sabha Constituency and President of the Vadodara District ‘Bharat Scouts and Guides’. Other esteemed dignitaries included Mrs. Rupali A. Agarkar, Revenue Officer of Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Shri Bhargavkumar Jagdishchandra Pandya, CRC Coordinator, and Mr Hiren Sukhadiya, the local Ward 17 Corporator from Manjalpur.

School leaders, including Principal Mrs Leena Varghese, Vice Principal Fr Chris Ferreira sdb, and In-charge Principal Mrs Betty Augustine, along with teachers, parents, and School Management Committee members, joined the gathering to inspire the young learners and felicitated the dignitaries with saplings and mementos.

Following a solemn prayer by the school choir, a captivating cultural programme unfolded. Students showcased exceptional talents through an energetic dance performance, an inspiring poem recitation, and an empowering speech on the value of education. A major highlight was the felicitation ceremony, where outstanding students were recognized for academic and sports excellence to motivate their peers. Students who excelled at the National and State Level Sport Meets were felicitated with certificates and souvenirs. Dr Joshi, the Chief Guest, enthused the children in his speech with a rousing address on sensitivity to national issues and the need to make the best use of the education received here at Don Bosco to be key instruments in Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Plan – Viksit Bharat 2047.

The day concluded with a meaningful Tree Plantation Ceremony. Dignitaries and management members planted a sapling on the campus, symbolizing sustainability, deep-rooted values, and a commitment to nurturing a greener future for generations to come. The dignitaries were served refreshments at the end of the praveshotsav.
