Kawant, July 17, 2026: In a commendable effort towards environmental conservation and sustainable living, DISHA Don Bosco Kawant organised a tree plantation drive at Goddha village on July 17, 2026. The initiative was undertaken with the noble intention of promoting the protection and preservation of nature, which is considered the lifeline of the tribal community in the region.

The programme was carried out in collaboration with the Goddha Yuva Vikas Manch, under the leadership of its President, Mr Vechatbhai, along with the active support of local youth members. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders of the village, making it a truly community-driven initiative.

The plantation activity was conducted in the gracious presence of the village Sarpanch, Mr Kunvarsinghbhai Rathwa, former Sarpanch Mr Sundarbhai Rathwa, and members of the Gram Panchayat. Representing DISHA Don Bosco Kawant were its Director, Fr Dr Mayank Parmar, Programme Officer Mr Hasmukh Christian, along with other staff members. A significant number of villagers, including youth and elders, also took part in the event, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Dr Mayank Parmar highlighted the importance of preserving nature, especially in tribal areas where the environment plays a vital role in sustaining livelihoods and cultural identity. He encouraged the villagers to take ownership of the planted saplings and nurture them as a collective responsibility. He emphasised that such initiatives not only contribute to ecological balance but also instil a sense of responsibility among the younger generation.

Mr Hasmukh Christian, Programme Officer, spoke about the long-term benefits of tree plantation, including improved air quality, soil conservation, and climate resilience. He urged the community to adopt environmentally friendly practices in their daily lives and to continue such efforts in the future.

The village leaders, including Mr Kunvarsinghbhai Rathwa and Mr Sundarbhai Rathwa, appreciated the initiative taken by DISHA Don Bosco Kawant and assured their full support in maintaining the planted trees. They acknowledged the role of youth organisations in mobilising community participation and fostering awareness about environmental issues.

The programme concluded with the plantation of several saplings across selected locations in the village. The collective effort of the organisers and participants reflected a strong sense of unity and dedication towards safeguarding the environment.
