KAWANT, AUGUST 25, 2026: Don Bosco High School, Kawant, celebrated Grandparents’ Day on August 25 with great joy, love and gratitude. The programme was organised to honour grandparents, who are an invaluable treasure of affection, wisdom, values and blessings in every family.

A large number of grandparents of the students participated in the celebration. The programme was attended by the Rector of the institution, Br Melvin, the Administrator, Fr Agnel, Principal of the English Medium School, Br Joseph, members of the staff and students.

The celebration began with an interfaith prayer. Special prayers were offered for the good health, happiness and long life of all grandparents. This created a prayerful and meaningful atmosphere for the programme.

One of the most touching moments of the celebration was when the students whose grandparents were present lovingly held their hands and accompanied them to the stage. The grandchildren then honoured their grandparents with flower garlands. This beautiful gesture expressed the love, respect and gratitude that young people have for their grandparents.

The students presented a colourful cultural programme consisting of dances and a short skit. Through their performances, they highlighted the important role played by grandparents in the lives of children. Their love, care, warmth, affection, guidance and concern were beautifully brought before the audience. The students also read out special letters of honour dedicated to their grandparents, expressing their heartfelt appreciation for their presence and contribution to their lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr Dr Mayank Parmar, the Rector of Don Bosco, Kawant, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message. He emphasised the importance of the tradition of joint families and encouraged everyone to recognise and fulfil their moral responsibility towards parents and grandparents. He reminded the students that grandparents are an important link between generations and are valuable guides who pass on family values, traditions and life experiences.

The grandparents were also given an opportunity to share their experiences on the stage. Many of them spoke lovingly about their grandchildren and expressed their happiness at being honoured by the school. Their words and experiences added a personal and emotional touch to the celebration.

At the end of the programme, Fr Agnel, the Principal, thanked all the grandparents, guests, staff members and students for making the celebration memorable. The programme was effectively anchored by Madhuben, a teacher of the school.

The celebration was a beautiful reminder that grandparents are not only the elders of a family but also loving companions, wise guides and keepers of culture and values. The Grandparents’ Day celebration at Don Bosco High School, Kawant, therefore became a meaningful occasion of love, respect and gratitude, strengthening the bond between generations.
