DRISTI Don Bosco, Kapadvanj, witnessed a meaningful and inspiring celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14, 2026, led by the dedicated efforts of its youth leaders. The initiative reflected not only respect for the legacy of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar but also a growing awareness of his vision for justice, equality, and human dignity.
Often regarded primarily as a leader of the Dalits, Dr Ambedkar’s contribution extends far beyond this limited understanding. He was a visionary reformer who courageously advocated for the rights of all backward and marginalized communities, striving to ensure a life of dignity and equality for every citizen. Keeping this broader vision in mind, DRISTI motivated its youth groups to organize celebrations across their respective villages.
The response from the youth was remarkable. Most of the participating groups belonged to the OBC Thakor community, and they carried out the celebrations with great enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment. The programs were organized in 16 villages, drawing the participation of around 500 people. Each village hosted a well-planned program lasting one to two hours, conducted during the evening or night to ensure maximum participation.
The celebrations were marked by several meaningful activities. Panchayat leaders and respected village members were invited and felicitated with a special token – a keychain bearing the message “Our Constitution, Our Pride.” This gesture symbolized respect for democratic values and constitutional principles. A significant highlight of every program was the display and reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, reinforcing a sense of unity, justice, and responsibility among the participants.
Youth leaders and invited speakers delivered thoughtful speeches, reflecting on Dr Ambedkar’s life, struggles, and enduring contributions to the nation. In some villages, creative methods such as charts and presentations were used to explain his vision in a simple and engaging manner. The programs concluded with the distribution of snacks, fostering a spirit of community and togetherness.
This initiative not only honoured the legacy of Dr Ambedkar but also deepened awareness about equality, dignity, and constitutional values among rural communities. The active involvement of youth leaders made the celebration impactful and inspiring.
Congratulations to all the youth leaders for their dedication, leadership, and commendable efforts in making this initiative a success.
