A one-day seminar titled “The Power of Your Dreams” was organized for the teaching staff of Don Bosco High School & Junior College, Naigaon East, on June 10, 2026 in the school’s AV Hall. The enriching programme was conducted by Fr Mario Vaz, Rector and Parish Priest of St John Bosco Church, Borivali, with the objective of promoting professional growth, strengthening student motivation, and fostering healthy staff collaboration.
The seminar was divided into two highly interactive and thought-provoking sessions that encouraged teachers to reflect on their role as educators and mentors.
During the first session, Fr Mario Vaz emphasized the transformative power of positive affirmations in the classroom. He highlighted how words of encouragement can significantly influence a student’s confidence, self-esteem, and overall academic performance. Through practical examples and engaging discussions, he explained that students thrive when they feel loved, valued, and supported by their teachers.
Fr Vaz guided the participants on effective ways to observe student behaviour patterns, identify signs of academic or emotional difficulties, and respond with empathy and timely intervention. He stressed the importance of creating a nurturing learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Teachers actively participated in discussions and reflected on how positive reinforcement can become an essential tool in shaping responsible, confident, and motivated learners.
The second session focused on the significance of maintaining respectful and healthy relationships among colleagues. Fr Vaz highlighted the value of teamwork, mutual respect, and open communication in creating a positive and productive work environment. He encouraged teachers to support one another, recognizing that collaboration among staff members ultimately benefits the students and the school community as a whole.
A specially designed group activity further enriched the session, engaging teachers in teamwork and problem-solving exercises. The activity reinforced the importance of cooperation, effective communication, and mutual support, while also providing an enjoyable platform for interaction and reflection.
The seminar proved to be both practical and inspiring. Participants gained valuable insights into motivating students through affirmation and strengthening collegial relationships through collaboration. The activities and discussions encouraged self-reflection and professional growth, empowering teachers to become more empathetic educators and supportive team members.
Rooted in the Salesian values of accompaniment and family spirit, “The Power of Your Dreams” served as a meaningful reminder of the profound impact educators have on the lives of young people. The programme concluded on a positive note, leaving teachers inspired to continue nurturing dreams, building relationships, and fostering a culture of care and excellence within the school community.
