The under – 17 girls football team of Don Bosco High School & Junior College, Naigaon East, proudly secured 3rd Place in the prestigious Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament, on August 6, 2026, demonstrating outstanding teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Around 32 schools between Naigaon to Virar region participated in the tournament, which was held at the MHADA Grounds of the Vasai–Virar City Municipal Corporation in Virar West.

The team began its campaign with a bye in the opening round before taking on Rustomjee Cambridge International School, Virar (West) in the quarterfinals. Don Bosco emerged victorious with a 1–0 win, earning a place in the next round.

In the following match, Don Bosco continued its excellent form by defeating St. Anne's Convent School & Junior College 1–0, advancing to the semifinals.

The semifinal against Isaac Newton Global School was a closely contested encounter. Despite a spirited performance, Don Bosco narrowly lost 0–1, moving into the third-place playoff. In the battle for third place, Don Bosco faced Yash Vidya Niketan High School.  After a hard-fought match ended level, the results were decided through a penalty shootout.

Displaying exceptional composure and confidence, Don Bosco converted 6 penalties, missing 3, while Yash Vidya Niketan converted 5 penalties and missed 4. Don Bosco emerged victorious in the shootout to claim an impressive Third Place in the tournament.

The coach remarked that the players displayed great commitment, discipline, and dedication throughout the tournament. They trained hard and attended practice sessions regularly, demonstrating a strong desire to improve their skills and perform to the best of their ability. Although they were disheartened by the outcome of the semi-final due to an unfortunate turn of events, they did not allow the setback to dampen their spirit. The Captain, Ms Valentina, played a vital role in keeping the team motivated. She remained supportive and encouraged her teammates not to give up, reminding them to believe in themselves and fight until the very end. Her positive attitude and leadership helped the players regain their confidence and gear up for the finals with renewed determination and enthusiasm. Their perseverance, unity, and sportsmanship were truly commendable and reflected their ability to face challenges with courage and bounce back stronger.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, Mr Emmanuel Ilo, Mr Gazi and the entire Don Bosco family for this remarkable achievement. Their dedication, discipline, and fighting spirit has brought pride to the school and serve as an inspiration for future sporting success.
